New York Manhunt: Escaped Killers' DNA Found In A Cabin After Police Shift Search

The DNA of New York prison escapees David Sweat and Richard Matt were found in several items at a cabin located in Franklin County, N.Y., a law enforcement source told CNN.

The state police had shifted their manhunt for the two fugitives who escaped a New York maximum security prison two weeks ago to a region in the west.

Officers have now begun searching through Mountain View, which is a hamlet in Franklin County, where investigators and military trucks had gathered on Sunday.

The shift of the manhunt comes after it was reported that a man was seen fleeing a hunting camp in the region, acting Franklin County District Attorney Glenn MacNeill told WPTZ-TV, according to the Associated Press.

Before his escape, Richard Matt, 49, was serving a 25-year prison sentence for kidnapping and dismembering his former boss in 1997.

Meanwhile, 35-year-old David Sweat was sentenced to life without parole for killing a deputy sheriff in the state of New York back in 2002, according to Agence France-Presse.
