Comic book fans get excited. A Hawkgirl TV show could be coming soon to the CW in 2016.
It isn't set in stone, but according to SpoilerTV, The CW is planning a separate Hawkgirl TV series starring Ciara Renée. The project is in early stages of development.
The Hawkgirl character, following the CW timeline, is one part of several spin-offs that comes from the TV show "Arrow." While Hawkgirl is technically a "new" character, she has appeared before in an episode of "Smallville" and in animated form in "Justice League," according to Examiner.
This version of Hawkgirl is a reincarnated woman whose ancient warrior persona manifests itself with wings that grow from her back. This might be a departure from her Golden Age iteration where she is a reincarnation of the Egyptian princess Chay-Ara, depending on the direction producers choose to take.
Come early 2016, CW might very well have a very solid DC-CW universe of its own, including "Arrow" and "The Flash," according to io9. Not to mention that next year, "Legends of Tomorrow," featuring characters that might end up with their own spin-off series (if successful) will premiere.
The only other question up in the air is whether or not the series will take place before or after the events of "Legends of Tomorrow," which also stars Ciara Renée.
