NCIS is unfortunately saying bye to Ziva. Cote de Pablo has decided to move on from the show and is taking her deadly but awkward-at-times character with her.
It was recently reported NCIS has already created a character to replace Ziva named Bishop. According to TVLine.com, Executive Producer Gary Glasberg said Bishop will be a “bright, educated, athletic, attractive, fresh-faced, focused and somewhat socially awkward. She has a mysterious mixture of analytic brilliance, fierce determination and idealism.
“She’s traveled extensively, but only feels comfortable at home.”
This will present an interesting dynamic to the show as the team will have to get acclimated to a new partner after losing their old one and going through a slew of temporary substitutes.
However, can anyone really replace Ziva?
Ms. David brought a lot to the show. She was tougher than her predecessor Kate and the fact she came from another country only added to what she brought to “NCIS.”
She gave us great storylines which included killing her brother, her constant struggle with her father, her weird relationship with Tony and the catastrophic event that will forever tie her to Vance.
This new character Bishop cannot replace Ziva, but—as Ziva did after Kate—she will hopefully bring her own dynamic to the group.
Nevertheless Ziva will be missed. No more adorable moments with Tony, no more impressive butt-kicking and we will never, ever, forget the butchered idioms.
While we hope Bishop is good the answer is no—no one can ever replace Ziva.
