Diddy Arrested: Lawyer Claims Sean Combs Acted In Self Defense

Sean "Diddy" Combs faces three counts of assault with a deadly weapon following an alleged incident at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) on Monday, but a representative for the rap mogul is calling accounts of the event "wholly inaccurate."

"What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son. We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed," the rep said in a statement posted to Revolt TV.com, owned by Combs.

In addition to the assault charges, the 45-year-old rapper was charged with one count of making terrorist threats and one count of battery. He was released from jail after posting a $50,000 bail.

The altercation allegedly involved Combs swinging a kettlebell at a coach who works for the university, where his son, Justin Combs, plays football, according to TMZ. UCLA has not identified the alleged victim.

"I'm thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation," UCLA football coach Jim Mora said in a statement. "This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved."

Combs will appear in court on July 13, according to CNN.
