Vaughan Cafe Shooting Leaves 2 Dead, 2 Others Injured

Two people were killed and two more were seriously injured after a gunman opened fire Wednesday at a café in Vaughan, Ontario.

York Regional Police say that a man walked into the café and opened fire on Wednesday morning, according to CBC News.

Police were called to the café at 8:18 am ET after gunshots were heard. Upon their arrival, two victims were declared dead on the scene while two others were taken to the hospital. One victim has been listed stable, while the other remains in life-threatening condition, The Toronto Star reported.

No information about the gender, ages or names of either of the victims will be released until the next of kin are notified, York police Constable Andy Pattenden stated. However, he did note that all the victims were adults.

The only physical description of the shooter known by police is that he is a "male with darker skin."

Pattenden also told reporters that the motive for the shooter is unknown, stating that the man arrived on the scene and began shooting.

Various shell casings were found three kilometers to the south (the same direction the shooter fled in) near the intersection of Islington Avenue and San Pietro Way about three hours later after people reported hearing gunshots and a vehicle fleeing the scene, INSIDEbelleville reported.

The police have yet to determine if the two shootings are related.
