Sometimes all you need to be the star of a baseball game is for a player to hit a foul ball towards you while you're holding a baby.
Chicago Cubs’ fan Keith Hartley was in such a situation with his son Isaac and wife Kari nearby when Cubs’ pitcher Jason Hammel smacked a baseball to the right field line facing the outfield in the second inning of the Southside Chicago team’s 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.
Hartley's catch was so awesome that he even received invites to appear and speak about his once in a lifetime opportunity on WGN’s morning show “Inside Edition,” ESPN’s “Waddle and Silvy" show and Dan Patrick’s radio show, according to The Chicago Tribune.
“It’s been nonstop,” Hartley told TV network CSN. "I haven’t gotten much sleep over the course of the evening, but with a new baby, he prepared me for it. Not really a new thing.”
Hammel even commended the new baseball prospect.
“Flashes of (Steve) Bartman?" Hammel told The Tribune. “Not near the importance. Best play of the night."
