A Russian mayoral candidate better hope that "Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke is more forgiving than the "Mother of Dragons" that she portrays on the popular HBO program after the candidate used her image without permission for an "anti-rape" campaign ad, according to Yahoo.
Yakov Silin, a mayoral candidate for the Russian city of Yekaterinburg and political ally of Vladimir Putin, produced an advertisement that identifies the 26-year-old British actress as a 24-year-old resident of Yekaterinburg named Anya, according to MSN.com.
Anya talks about how happy she is that she feels safe on the streets of the Russian city in the ad.
"I suddenly noticed that I haven't been afraid to take walks around Yekaterinburg at night the last couple of years," the ad said. "I am confident that the city is safe, that no one will harass or rape me....It's so wonderful: few people around, the streetlamps a light, the fresh air. It's incredibly beautiful, especially after the rain."
The producers of the ad likely performed a Google image search for attractive young women and thought nothing of it once finding Clarke's image. Once the ad was placed on the campaigns Facebook it took no time for people to recognize the actor, according to MSN.com.
Yet when confronted with their mistake by Internet users Silin's campaign denied that it was a simple mistake.
"We selected a famous and beautiful actress on purpose, to make it clear that this is a fantasy," an unnamed member of the campaign said in a statement according to the Daily Mail. "Next time we will write more clearly. Sorry."
An additional statement that refers to her by the name of her "Game of Thrones" character invited Clarke to visit the Russian city, according to Yahoo.
"We assure you Daenerys Targaryen, in this case, is just a beautiful woman," the statement said. "We don't claim to have her support, even though we would not be ashamed to show her Yekaterinburg after the implementation of the 'Capital' program."
Perhaps the Silin campaign should ask the citizens of Yunkai the consequences of inviting the Mother of Dragons into their city before they invite her in.
