Breakups are never easy. Britney Spears' ex Charlie Ebersol was reportedly heartbroken following his breakup with the pop star.
E! Online confirmed that Spears ended her relationship with the 32-year-old film producer after eight months of dating. The two were first rumored to be a couple in October and seemed inseparable. Ebersol, a writer and producer, even received the "stamp of approval " from the pop star's other family members, People reported.
No specific reason was given for the couple's split.
Following the breakup, Ebersol posted an emotional video on Monday of himself cuddling with a puppy to the tune of Randy Newman's "You've Got a Friend In Me." He captioned the video with a prayer.
"We are nothing if we are not a collection of the scars, tattoos, and smiles of a life well lived. I wish for you today, that you find great joy in the joy you spark in others. If nothing else, I hope you're happy just in knowing that you made me happy. It is never lost on me the love with which I have been blessed. For that, I aim to live up to Colossians 3:12," Ebersol's caption read.

People reported that "everyone thought he might end up asking her to marry him" and the two made every effort to maintain their relationship despite their busy schedules. A source added that Ebersol "has been pretty torn up about" the split.
"He really thought she could be the one. He is a very private, family guy and saw Britney fitting right in," the source added. "Charlie really put a lot into their relationship and took it very seriously, so when things ended he was definitely upset."
Fans weren't the only ones shocked and upset about Spears and Ebersol's split. The pop singer's sons - 8-year-old Jayden and 9-year-old Sean - are also having a hard time dealing with the couple's split, Radar Online reported.
"The boys are heartbroken right now, but they are more mad than anything else," a source said. "Charlie told them that he would never leave her and that he was going to give them another little brother or sister one day."
Spears and Ebersol were last photographed together at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards last month.
