Manchester City meets Newcastle United on Monday. The match begins at 3 p.m. ET. Tune in to NBC or watch the live stream HERE.
Man City will look to extend its unbeaten record against Newcastle to 14 games, NBC Sports reports. The team also looks to continue its record of scoring at least once in every home game during the 2012-13 season, something no other team did.
Man City has news faces for this season. Manuel Pellegrini took the managerial reigns for the club in June, and he quickly spent more than $135 million in new additions - Fernandinho, Jesus Navas, Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo.
Pellegrini, in his first regular-season game as Man City manager, doesn't want the club to waste any time acclimating to the new players or staff.
"Of course the new players - and the manager and staff - all need time to get to know each other and I am sure that we will improve as the season progresses but we do not have that time; we have to hit the ground running and that starts against Newcastle," Pellegrini said, via NBC Sports. "Supporters of Manchester City have the reputation of being a big family and I am delighted to be part of it. My job now is to win trophies and take the team forward."
The spending by Man City isn't lost on Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, who's confident the talent on his squad can keep the match competitive.
"They've again invested heavily, Manchester City. They're obviously going to be one of the contenders for the title so it's a tough game for us but we're more than ready for it," Pardew said, via NBC Sports. "The ideal scenario is to get a result of any kind and I think we've got the players to do it. We carry some fabulous players - (Yohan) Cabaye, (Fabricio) Coloccini, Papiss Cisse - so we've got an opportunity and hopefully we can take it."
