Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers, otherwise known as the voices of reason, need to return to "Saturday Night Live" and host Weekend Update together again.
Poehler stopped by Meyers' "Late Night with Seth Meyers" Wednesday night to bring back one of their most popular Weekend Update segments, "Really!?! With Seth and Amy." The two comedians tackle the subject of female sports after misogynistic Sports Illustrated writer Andy Benoit went on Twitter saying, "Not women's soccer.....women's sports in general not worth watching."
The dream comedy duo charge into a much needed soliloquy about why women's sports are worth watching, why they deserve a bigger spot on American television, and the poor overall coverage of the Women's World Cup.
"Really, Andy Benoit," Poehler starts. "There's nothing in women's sports worth watching? I think a lot of people would love to watch you say that to Serena Williams."
Poehler and Meyers question why networks will show six hours of Kentucky Derby and how the best female soccer athletes are representing their countries on Fox Sports One.
"Nobody gets Fox Sports One," Poehler complains. "You think people want to watch people talk about hats instead of watch bad a-- b-----s take down Colombia?!"
"If you want to attack someone for playing soccer, how about children," Meyers asked. "Now that is boring."
The U.S. women's soccer team will take on China Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in the quarter finals of the Women's World Cup. The match will be broadcasted by Fox.
