2015 NBA Draft: Karl-Anthony Towns Goes No. 1 to Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves, holding the No. 1 overall pick for the first time in franchise history, selected Kentucky big man Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns joins last year's No. 1 overall pick and this past season's Rookie of the Year, Andrew Wiggins, who was acquired via trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer.

Towns averaged 10.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in just 23 minutes per game last season for the Wildcats. Scouts are universally agreed on his impressive versatility on offense and his high ceiling on defense. The 19-year-old can score down low as well as hit mid range jumpers. His also offers enticing rim protection. It is his potential on both sides of the floor that pushed him past Duke big man Jahlil Okafor, long considered the top prospect early last season, for the No. 1 pick.

Towns is a quality fit in Minnesota with Wiggins' scoring ability and point guard Ricky Rubio's pass-first mentality. The pick now gives the Timberwolves one of the more exciting young cores in the NBA.
