The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled same sex marriage legal in all fifty states, and President Barack Obama is calling it a "victory for America."
Obama is a known advocate for LGBTQ rights, and he spoke to a crowd of fellow supporters Friday morning about the decision. "This decision affirms what millions of Americans already believe in their hearts," he said in his speech. "It's a victory for the allies and friends and supporters who spent years, even decades, for change to come."
The 5-4 decision in Obergefell v. Hodges will go down in history and it was greeted by such positive reactions from celebrities, lawmakers, and LGBQT advocates worldwide.
Many celebrities have decided to take to Twitter and Instagram to showcase their pride and excitement over this huge announcement, including our President.
"Today is a big step in our march toward equality," Obama tweeted. "Gay and lesbian couples now have the right to marry, just like anyone else. #LoveWins."
And just like that, #LoveWins was trending on social media nationwide.
Here is what celebrities have had to say about this historical day.
