"The Tonight Show" had to cancel its Friday taping after Jimmy Fallon suffered a hand injury and was hospitalized.
The incident occurred on Thursday and Fallon underwent surgery on Friday morning. The NBC late night show confirmed the cancelled taping on Twitter.
Scheduled guests for Friday's show included Benicio Del Toro, Taylor Kitsch and Penn & Teller. "The Tonight Show" also tweeted that they would be in contact with ticket holders to reschedule tickets.
Fallon and NBC have not released details on what caused the hand injury. The episode on Thursday introduced the new game "Head Shots" between the host and his guest Mark Wahlberg that involved shooting arrows at random objects on top of their heads. He showed no sign of injury after the game.
"The Tonight Show" was already scheduled to go on hiatus next week. The show will air a repeat on Friday night.
Fallon celebrated his first year as the "Tonight Show" host in February.
