On Friday, the Supreme Court ruled in a 5-to-4 decision to strike down the remaining bans on same-sex marriage in the United States. Many people from all over the country are celebrating the historic day, including actors Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi. McKellen and Jacobi will serve as the grand marshals of Sunday's Gay Pride March in New York City.
In a video posted to BuzzFeed's Vine account, the two Brisish actors celebrate the historic ruling by tossing confetti and enacting a fake marriage proposal while Queen's "We are the Champions" plays in the background.
The two actors are both wearing Stonewall Inn T-shirts in a tribute to the bar where the modern gay rights movement began. McKellen is also wearing a rainbow-colored fedora to celebrate.
The two actors have been friends for a long time and play a gay couple on PBS' "Vicious." They first met as students at the University of Cambridge in the 1950s where they bonded over their interests in acting, their working-class backgrounds and their sexuality, according to the New York Times.
