As Janet Jackson gets ready to debut her first album in seven years, the pop goddess received the Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual Award at the 2015 BET Awards on Sunday night.
The 49-year-old Jackson looked incredible as she took the stage in an all-white jumpsuit to receive the honor. Tinashe, Jason Derulo and Ciara paid tribute to the singer and her iconic choreography with an epic dance performance set to her hit songs "All for You" and "Rhythm Nation."
Her longtime producers Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam presented her with the award. She made sure to thank them, her husband Wissam Al Mana, and her famous parents, Katherine and Joe Jackson, in her acceptance speech.
"It's been a very long journey to this moment," Jackson said. "My heart is so full. Thank you, God, for making everything possible. I'm so grateful for the support you've always given me, to my beautiful mother and beautiful father, and to my entire family. Your love is unbreakable. Many thanks to Jimmy and Terry for our incredible history and to everyone who performed in the tribute tonight. Twenty-five years ago, we created Rhythm Nation hoping the world would be a better place, but today there is even more to be done. Last but not least to my loving husband and to all the fans, I've missed you so much and I love you so much. Thank you! Thank you, BET."
The "Control" singer recently released the lead singler, "No Sleeep," from her upcoming album, her first album since 2008. She will hit the road for her Unbreakable World Tour on Aug. 31, kicking off in Vancouver at the Rogers Arena.
