Darren Criss Apologizes To Caitlyn Jenner—Find Out Why!

Darren Criss is apologizing to Caitlyn Jenner.

Last week, a theatergoer who attended a performance of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" tweeted that the 28-year-old actor, who plays Hedwig, improvised a line that joked about Jenner's transition.

"Tonight, Darren Criss, as Hedwig said, 'man, woman, moman, wan, Bruce Jenner, whatever you are,' and it was very distasteful," said the tweet, according to E!.

Despite the line only being said while Criss was in character, the actor received major backlash from social media users who were offended by his insensitive comment. Criss later posted an apology on his Facebook page.

"I want to sincerely apologize to Caitlyn Jenner, all transgender people and anyone who was offended for my words onstage during Tuesday evening's performance. In no way do the remarks reflect my personal belief system or my support for transgender people," wrote Criss.

He also added that he takes "full responsibility" for his comment and commended the 65-year-old former Olympian for being bold enough to spread social acceptance.

"I do realize the severity of the comment and the weight that words can carry and for that, I take full responsibility," he continued. "I commend Caitlyn on her strength and for spreading acceptance around the globe. I have been and remain a proud and unwavering ally of the LGBTQIA community, and will continue to walk alongside my friends on the road to full equality and acceptance."

Last week, the Supreme Court decided to rule same sex-marriage legal in all 50 states.
