David Cassidy Forced To Sell Home: Teen Idol Bankrupt

Former teen heartthrob and '70s superstar David Cassidy has been forced to put his Fort Lauderdale, Fla., home up for auction. After filing for bankruptcy in February, the former "Partridge Family" star has been ordered to sell the mansion, according to the New York Daily News.

Cassidy bought the six-bedroom house in 2001 for $1.1 million. The luxury home has a swimming pool and a boat dock, according to MSN Entertainment. The house is set to go on the market on Sept. 9. Fisher Auction Company has been overseeing the sale in which bidders must prequalify to participate in the auction.

In February, Cassidy filed for bankruptcy after falling $10 million in debt, according to People. Cassidy owes Wells Fargo Bank $290,000, American Express $21,000, Citi Bank $102,000 and his lawyer $102,000.

The pop singer has battled substance abuse issues for a long time and spent time last year in rehab. He was charged with a DUIs in November 2010, August 2013 and January 2014, according to People. A month after his third arrest, his wife, Sue Shifrin-Cassidy, filed for divorce.
