Kate and Oliver Hudson were "not surprised" by their father's public announcement that he had disowned his two biological children with ex-wife, Goldie Hawn.
"They don't care and are not surprised," an insider told Us Weekly. "It's been this way, and he's been saying this stuff forever."
The Hudson family dispute started on Father's Day when 38-year-old Oliver posted an Instagram photo of himself with his sister Kate and their father, Bill Hudson, and captioned it, "Happy Abandonment Day." The "Nashville" star considered the post a joke and never expected it to go viral.
"Oliver was trying to be funny by posting that comment. In retrospect, he probably should have thought twice before putting that out. But what's done is done," an insider close to Oliver told Us Weekly. The photo remains up on his Instagram account.

The 36-year-old Kate also posted a photo with Kurt Russell, her mother's partner for over 30 years, and referred to him as "Pa."
"Pa, just simply... Thank you," she captioned the pic. "Happy Fathers Day I love you to the moon and back."
