Princess Charlotte's second public appearance is set to be an extra-special one, People reports. The royal family announced the details of her upcoming christening, a celebration befitting a princess.
In a statement released to People, the palace announced that the christening will be held on Sunday, July 5 and all are invited to attend.
"The Duke and Duchess are hugely grateful for the warm wishes they have received since Princess Charlotte's birth - many of them from local people in Norfolk - and are delighted the paddock can be opened on the day of the christening," the statement reads.
The service is to be held at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Sandringham, England, according to Us Weekly. The church is near parents Prince William and Princess Kate's country home. It holds a special meaning for the royal family, as it is the same church where Prince William's late mother, Princess Diana, was baptized.
Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev. Justin Welby, will preside over the ceremony, with support from Rev. Canon Jonathan Riviere, the rector of the Sandringham group of parishes, the palace said.
On the guest list are Queen Elizabeth, her husband and Duke of Edinburgh Prince Phillip, the Prince of Wales Prince Charles and the Middleton family. It will also be a big day for Charlotte's big brother, almost 2-year-old Prince George. The toddler will join his parents on the walk to the church.
Charlotte's godparents are yet to be announced, but there are a few contenders for the role, the Daily Mail reports. Kate's friend Alicia Fox-Pitt, sister Pippa and William's cousin Peter Phillips are all named as favorites for the title.
