Vine, the looped video sharing app, has become quite popular and attracted 40 million registered users since it was first launched in late January.
Seven months ago, Twitter launched a new application for shooting and sharing 6-second videos called Vine, which has now gained immense popularity and exceeded 40 million registered users. The app was released for iOS users in late January, followed by an Android version in the lineup in June. The number of registered users racked up from 13 million in June to 40 million till date, the company announced in a tweet Tuesday.
We've said this before and we'll say it again: this community - now more than 40 million of you - is amazing. Thank you for inspiring us.

Twitter's Vine challenges its rival Facebook's Instagram, which included similar video-sharing capabilities, earlier this summer. But Instagram's offerings that include photo sharing capabilities as well, gives the Facebook-owned company a boost in the number of users. The popular photo and video sharing app, launched in October 2010, had 130 million active users as of late July this year.
Despite the tough competition, Vine reaching such a magnificent milestone is commendable.
The app is more popular on iOS platform than on Android. Vine for iOS got several new features in a latest update last month, which includes "revine" or share, new camera tools and channels to the Explore section. The app secured a 4 star rating on iOS platform, and a struggling 3.1 out of 5 star rating on Android. Vine was also released on Amazon Appstore for Kindle Fire owners, a month after its release on Android.
The app is available for download on Google Play Store, iTunes and Amazon Appstore for free.
