Actor Jim Carrey has taken to Twitter to speak out against new legislation requiring all public school children in California to be vaccinated beginning in 2016.
Carrey, who has long been an outspoken opponent of vaccinations, said that California Gov. Jerry Brown needed to be stopped.
"California Gov says yes to poisoning more children with mercury and aluminum in mandatory vaccines. This corporate fascist must be stopped," Carrey tweeted yesterday shortly after the legislation was signed.
The new legislation supersedes personal belief exemptions to vaccinations due to religious reasons. Carrey's former girlfriend Jenny McCarthy is the public face of the anti-vaccination movement. She claims that her son developed autism follow a vaccination.

They say mercury in fish is dangerous but forcing all of our children to be injected with mercury in thimerosol is no risk. Make sense? — Jim Carrey (@JimCarrey) July 1, 2015
I am not anti-vaccine. I am anti-thimerosal, anti-mercury. They have taken some of the mercury laden thimerosal out of vaccines. NOT ALL!

The CDC can't solve a problem they helped start. It's too risky to admit they have been wrong about mercury/thimerasol. They are corrupt. — Jim Carrey (@JimCarrey) July 1, 2015
