Enrique Iglesias was arrested in Florida for driving with a suspended license back in May.
The 40-year-old singer is facing misdemeanor charges of obstruction and driving with a suspended license, NBC Miami reported. He was at a traffic stop on May 6 in Miami-Dade County when Florida Highway Patrol pulled a white Cadillac Escalade over for driving in a closed express lane.
As the trooper noticed this and went to pull them over, Iglesias jumped from his spot in the driver's seat into the back seat of the car and Abel Tabuyo, his tour manager, who was in the passenger seat, slid into the driver's seat. He then climbed into the passenger seat as if this was their original seating.
"It was Mr. Iglesias that was the initial driver, yes," Florida Highway Patrol's Lt. Julio Pajon said. The report claims that Tabuyo wasn't sure why they had switched seats. The two were handcuffed at the scene of the event when Iglesias invoked his Miranda rights.
The two were both faced with the same charges of obstruction without violence and were released once they signed the papers to agree to appear in court. They both pleaded not guilty to the obstruction charges, and the next court date will take place on July 19. Iglesias also pleaded not guilty to driving with a suspended license, according to TMZ.
This all happened just a few weeks before Iglesias had to get surgery for slicing his fingers open during one of his concerts in Mexico.
