Michael Fassbender might not look like Steve Jobs, but he sure can act like him. The first full-length trailer for Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs biopic has been released and it is already generating Oscar buzz. The highly anticipated "Steve Jobs" will follow the Apple co-founder through his life and will be structured around three major Apple product launches: the Macintosh (1984), NeXT (1998, after Jobs left Apple) and the iMac (in 1998 after his return), according to CNN.
The trailer opens with Seth Rogen as Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak speaking to Jobs. "What do you do? You're not an engineer. You're not a designer. You can't put a hammer to a nail," says Rogen's Wozniak. "So how come 10 times in a day I read, 'Steve Jobs is a genius'?" Fassbender's Jobs replies: "Musicians play their instruments. I play the orchestra."
The three-act movie was written by Oscar-winning writer Aaron Sorkin, who also wrote "The Social Network," which chronicles the life of another tech visionary, Mark Zuckerburg. The movie is directed by another Oscar winner, Danny Boyle, who won best director for "Slumdog Millionaire" in 2008. In addition to Fassbender and Rogen as the Apple co-founder, Kate Winslet plays original Mac engineer Joanna Hoffman, and Jeff Daniels plays John Sculley, the former Apple CEO who famously forced Jobs out of the company in 1985, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The real-life Steve Jobs passed away from cancer in 2011 at the age of 56. The film celebrating his life and extraordinary vision will hit theaters on Oct. 9.
