Chris Brown is taking his role as a father very seriously.
The 26-year-old singer filed legal documents in Houston, Texas on Wednesday to establish paternity and child support disputes of his 13-month-old daughter Royalty.
Brown and Royalty's mother, Nia Guzman, have been at odds with one another, with the singer currently paying $2,500 a month in child support while Royalty's mother is asking for payments to be increased to $15,000, TMZ reported. Brown reportedly finds this unfair since she is reportedly making it difficult for him to see his daughter.
Brown, who first learned that he fathered a child earlier this year, asked the court to establish custody guidelines between him and Guzman, which includes making financial arrangement regarding child support.
The "Loyal" singer is also asking a judge to declare him as Royalty's father on her birth certificate. Guzman's boyfriend Brazil Riesling is currently listed as Royalty's father on the birth certificate.
Brown has admitted that being a father has changed him for the better.
"For me, there comes a time where people have to grow up and start becoming more of an adult and taking responsibility, and I think this was just a blessing in disguise with my daughter," he told Ryan Seacrest in June. "I get a chance to like look at her and you know, teach her stuff, the right path, and also be a father in my daughter's life."
"Just to see the smile on her face, just to see the littlest things, it's emotional for me," Brown added. "So I just love that aspect of being able to be a father now."
