Hollywood actor Tom Cruise has been a long-term supporter of the Church of Scientology but it seems that the actor is set to leave the church for the sake of his daughter, Suri, and to see her grow up. Reports have surfaced that Cruise, 52, is planning to cut ties with the highly controversial church so that he can establish a proper relationship with his daughter, his child with ex-wife Katie Holmes, free from its control, according to Hollywood Life.
An insider recently told Star Magazine that a phone call between Tom and Suri made him realize that he is missing out on important events in his daughter's childhood, such as her ballet classes.
"It hit him that she's growing up before his eyes and he's not there to witness most of it. They talk on the phone and video chat, but it's not the same," said the insider, according to Dead State.
The insider went on to add: "Tom has been under tremendous pressure where Suri and Katie are concerned because the church doesn't want him close to them," said the insider.
The insider also revealed that the church cannot stand the fact that one of their most prominent members is not raising his child in the church. Additionally, the actor will have enormous difficulty in trying to have a relationship with Suri once the church labels her a suppressive person (a term in Scientology used to describe an enemy of the church).
"He's between a rock and a hard place, but he's finally making a choice to put his daughter first," the insider said, according to the Daily Caller.
