A man's two-word obituary printed in a local newspaper in North Dakota might be succinct, but it's become more memorable than any obituary in recent memory.
Accompanying a photograph and name of local resident Douglas Legler, 85, the obit, which ran Wednesday, had just two simple words: "Doug died."
Legler, a renowned prankster known for his goofy sense of humor, died Saturday in Fargo. He left behind a loving family - and very specific instructions for his obituary, according to the New York Daily News.
Legler's daughter, Janet Stoll, says that her father had long insisted on a short and sweet death notice, according to The Huffington Post.
"He said over and over, when I die I want my obituary to just say 'Doug Died,'" Stoll told the Forum. "[Other people's obituaries] would say 'he was the president of this, a director of this' and Dad would say, 'What, couldn't they hold down a job?'"
According to the newspaper, he was a driver for Nash Finch, singer, country music fan, jokester and car enthusiast.
"He was very lighthearted and had a great sense of humor," Stoll said. "He was one of a kind, he really was. Everyone loved him that met him."
