Hilary Swank recently revealed this week that she has decided to put her film career on hold so she can take care of her ailing father, who underwent a lung transplant.
The actress took part in a candid interview during which she revealed that her father, a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant, has been under her care since the operation.
"There's been a couple projects that are beautiful, but in the end, there's nothing I want to do more other than being with my dad in his time of need. You can't get this time back," Swank told Huffington Post Live.
The two-time Academy Award winner also said that she has no regrets of passing on several film projects and that she described being her father's caretaker as a "true honor."
Swank, 40, admitted that the decision was not a tough one to make and also claimed that she would "always look back and regret" had she decided not to step up and take care of her father herself, according to Entertainment Tonight Online.
The time that the father and daughter have spent together has also brought them closer than ever before.
"The bond that we've made in this time, might make up for some of that time we didn't have. We didn't have that one-on-one time together. It's actually kind of healing," she said.
As a matter of fact, the "Million Dollar Baby" star has gotten to know more about her father too.
"He's good-natured and giving. He has a great sense of humor. It's easy to be with my dad. It's easy to hang out. He's an easy guest to have in my home," she said, according to ABC News.
Swank posted a photo with her father on Instagram during Father's Day with the caption: "#HappyFathersDay to my dear Father! And, to all the Fathers out there! Today and always we cherish you!!"
