NBC’s ‘A.D. The Bible Continues’ Canceled After One Season; Shows Producers Considering Digital Revival

There won't be a chapter two for NBC's "A.D. The Bible Continues."

Deadline reported that NBC has decided to cancel the Biblical drama series after only one season. The network has not made an official announcement; however the cast and crew have been informed of the network's decision.

"A.D. The Bible Continues" - 12-episode event series - is a follow-up series to the History Channel's original series "The Bible" from executive producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey.

The series launched on NBC in April with about 9.5 million in viewership overall and a 2.3 demo rating; however, rating quickly fell to about 6 million viewers and a 0.7 rating.

"A.D." starred Juan Pablo Di Pace as Jesus, alongside actors Richard Coyle, James Callis, Babou Alieu Ceesay, Chipo Chung and Adam Levy. The show examined the lives that were changed after the Crucifixion of Christ - mainly focusing on the lives of his disciples.

The show's producers are reportedly pushing for the series to continue on a digital platform, Variety reported.
