A woman in Florida was arrested after she was caught by a witness throwing small kittens out of her SUV window that she was driving on a highway, the New York Daily News reported. Deputies of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's office responded to a complaint made by a person who saw the woman, 39-year-old Veronica Gordon, commit the crime at Highway 87 and Grady Tolbert Road in Navarre at around 11:45 a.m. on Friday.
A press release from the SRSO stated that a witness observed a black Infinity SUV driving around the area and the driver of the car was tossing four small kittens out of the window along the highway, according to the Pensacola News Journal.
The arrest report stated that Gordon was crying when the deputies pulled her over on the side of the road.
The report also states that the woman admitted to throwing three kittens out of her SUV's window. One of the kittens, believed to be seven weeks old, was found where it was thrown out injured and in distress.
The kitten was immediately taken to a local veterinarian for check-up and treatment and its condition is still unknown at this time.
The three other kittens have yet to be found, but deputies believe that it is highly unlikely that they survived due to their age and size, the arrest report said, according to Northwest Florida Daily News.
Gordon was then charged with felony animal cruelty with a bond of $5,000.
