Chris Pine, who most of you know as the lead from the rebooted "Star Trek" franchise, has the best problem an actor in Hollywood can have: too many opportunities.
Pine is currently rumored to be up for two marquee roles in the growing DC Cinematic Universe. Birth. Movies. Death. reports that the 34-year-old actor is up for the parts of both Hal Jordan (you might know him as Green Lantern) and Steve Trevor, a love interest and important character in Wonder Woman's canon. Although nothing official has been released, the site reports that Pine is in the running for Hal Jordan while he has formally been offered the role of Steve Trevor.
This isn't an entirely new rumor, as Pine has been mentioned in relation to both roles for some time now. Trevor was initially reported as the part for Pine in the DCCU, but recent reports suggest a strong push for him to don the power ring of Oa.
BMD's source suggests that Pine himself prefers the Hal Jordan role. That's not a huge surprise, as Jordan is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming two-part "Justice League" series before getting his own solo film in 2020. Headlining your own superhero franchise is likely a more attractive option than playing a love interest in someone else's.
But Trevor is no slouch of a character. He is a highly capable intelligence officer who meets Wonder Woman during World War II. He may not be as starry as Jordan, but Pine likely hasn't forgotten about the poorly received 2011 "Green Lantern" film starring Ryan Reynolds. Believe it or not, but Trevor may be the safer of the two roles after "Green Lantern" flamed out in such public fashion.
Either way, it appears as if Pine will be joining DC's shared cinematic universe in one form of the other.
