Warner Bros. has dropped the curtain to reveal the identity of their next Caped Crusader in the Man of Steel sequel, which will be played by Ben Affleck alongside British actor Henry Cavill, who will reprise his role as Superman.
The wait is finally over for all curious fans eagerly waiting to see the next actor in the Batman suit. Warner Bros. announced Thursday that Oscar winner Ben Affleck will be seen as the next Caped Crusader in the upcoming Batman-Superman movie. The 41-year-old will star opposite British actor Henry Cavill, who will revise his role as Superman in the upcoming film.
Director Zack Snyder will return to direct the Superman-Batman film, which is scheduled to begin production next year for a 2015 summer release.
Announcing the next Caped Crusader, Snyder expressed his excitement over working with Affleck and said his looks and crisp acting skills fit the role of billionaire Bruce Wayne.
"Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry's Superman," Snyder said in a statement. "He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can't wait to work with him."
The Batman-Superman film, which is yet to be named officially, will star actors from "Man of Steel" including Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.
Batman and Superman are part of DC Comics lore and the movies based on them have wooed the audience with intense adventure and action. The movie sequels have crossed $1 billion in revenue combined over the past years.
Although Affleck will be seen as Batman for the first time on big screen, it is not a new experience for the Academy award winner to play the role of a superhero. He was previously seen in the movie "Daredevil," which grossed $180 million worldwide and played George Reeves in the 1950s-era Adventures of Superman TV series-in Hollywoodland.
With Affleck ready to play the next Batman, fans across the world can stop wondering about the choice of actor who can do full justice to the Batman character. Are you excited to watch the new Batman-Superman movie? Do let us know.
