A lot of the “New Girl” Season 3 news has been about the relationship of Nick and Jess. However, not all of the spoilers are about the roommates-turned-awkward couple.
Coach (Damon Wayans Jr.) is on his way back to the loft and that may not bode well for everyone, according to TVLine.com.
Wayans Jr. was on the pilot of the show but had to leave once Happy Endings came back to ABC for a second season.
Now that the ABC comedy has gotten the ax, Wayans Jr. is available to come back to the show.
Lamorne Morris (Winston) said viewers will find out the connection between Coach and Winston as well as why Wayans Jr.’s character left in the first place.
So who will Coach’s return cause a problem for? None other Schmidt.
“I think Schmidt is going to be very competitive. while Nick is going to be very happy,” said Jake Johnson who plays Nick Miller. “Nick and Coach were old friends, so it’s going to be nice for Nick. But I bet Schmidt is going to have an oodle of issues with it.”
For those of you who are wondering what will happen to Jess and Nick. Here’s a hint—things aren’t going to work out swimmingly.
“I’m pretty sure they’re going to mess it up in some way,” said show creator and executive producer Elizabeth Meriwether. “But I don’t know exactly how.”
Johnson’s sentiments seem to be the same.
“I think there’s a good change Nick and Jess are going to screw up the Nick-and-Jess thing,” he said. “But hopefully they don’t screw it up too bad.”
Season 3 of New Girl premieres Sept. 17 on FOX.
