Ansbach Shooting: Manhunt For Gunman Begins After Shooting In South Germany

"At the moment we have no evidence of accomplices, but of course we will keep our eyes open," police spokesman Bert Rauenbush told TV news channel N24, accoridng to Khabar.

"In a place with 5,500 inhabitants where we have always had a quiet life, we only know this kind of situation from television," said the "stunned" mayor of Leutershausen, Siegfried Hess.

The gunman's car was registered locally.

The suspect was apprehended after he entered a gas station with a weapon. Gas station employees restrained him by fastening cable ties around his hands and waiting for police to arrive, according to the Daily Express.

A deadly shooting occurred Friday morning in Germany. A man in a silver Mercedes caused "multiple deaths" in the Bavarian town, Leutershausen-Tiefenthal, near Ansbach, according to reports.

The first casualty was an 82-year-old woman who was shot first in the drive-by, according to the Daily Express. She died at the scene. The gunman continued his rampage by shooting a cyclist, a farmer and another driver. The cyclist was also pronounced dead at the scene, according to ITV.

The suspect, who is believed to be 18-years-old, drove away in a silver convertible Mercedes Cabrio, and a manhunt began, but the gunman was quickly apprehended at a gas station.

No official word if the shooter has any links to terrorist organizations.
