"Star Wars" fans know that J.J. Abrams is directing the upcoming "The Force Awakens" and that Rian Johnson ("Looper") will be tackling "Episode VIII." But what about "Episode IX?"
Rumors about Abrams returning for the final installment in the new trilogy sprouted up recently, but nothing ever progressed on that front. Now, Umberto Gonzalez of Heroic Hollywood is reporting that Colin Trevorrow ("Jurassic World") will be the man calling the shots for the 2019 release.
Trevorrow will reportedly start working on the film after he directs his next movie "Book of Henry." "Star Wars" fans should be pretty happy overall about this move.
"Jurassic World," though not entirely equal in quality as it is to its box office grosses, is an enjoyable cinematic experience that has proven to be likable across the world. Trevorrow's first feature film, the indie hit "Safety Not Guaranteed," was a smart, funny and sweet sci-fi dramedy.
It is unknown whether or not Trevorrow will be involved in the writing of "Star Wars: Episode IX," but we will keep you posted as more details emerge.
