Silvercar launched its first car rental service Monday, and accepts advance bookings for visitors at Dallas/ Fort Worth International Airport, according to PR Newswire.
Silvercar, an Austin-based Technology Company, provides a new and unique airport car rental experience with a single make and model fleet of silver 2013 Audi A4s. The technology is revised to provide hassle-free experience for travelers visiting Dallas/ Fort Worth International Airport, where they can manage their bookings using a smartphone. Travelers can download the application available for Apple and Android users through App Store and Google Play Store respectively. Online bookings though travel agencies is also an available option for all the customers.
"We're thrilled to launch the Silvercar experience with DFW as our flagship airport," Silvercar CEO Luke Schneider said in the press release. "We anticipate that our unique model will resonate with the connected business travelers who frequent DFW. Our vision is to deliver a consistently better car rental experience, in a consistently better car, each and every time customers rent with Silvercar."
"At DFW, we are always looking for partners that can enhance the airport customer experience through exceptional service and the latest technology," said Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW Airport, reported Breaking travel News. "We think Silvercar is a great addition to DFW. Silvercar integrates the entire car rental process with smartphone technology, and that elevates the level of service we can offer to our customers."
After exiting the airport terminal, Silvercar customers will enter DFW's shuttle service to their car rental facility where customers can place reservations, select and unlock vehicle and their receipts will be sent through a smartphone user interface.
"Silvercar was born out of one too many frustrating travel experiences at the car rental counter - the long waits and failure to receive a vehicle that fulfills your needs are irritations most travelers can relate to," Bill Diffenderffer, Silvercar co-founder and executive chairman said, according to PR Newswire. "We encourage inbound DFW travelers to drop in and check out a Silvercar. By offering only Audi A4s - a cool car in itself - we're putting the renter back into the driver's seat."
Diffenderffer, also worked as a CEO and led the launch of innovative airline Skybus, has years of experience in travel industry, and is positive that Silvercar will attract many customers.
Silvercar is funded by $11.2 million as capital investment, led by Austin Ventures, CrunchFund, SV Angel Fund and technology industry tycoons Chris Dixon and Dave Morin.
"We're mindful of the fact that Silvercar is entering a large incumbent market, dominated by a handful of well-established companies," Schneider said. "We're energized by the opportunity to make a measurable impact on the industry by introducing a unique and refreshing experience."
