As loyal viewers may have noticed, Jimmy Fallon of "The Tonight Show" has been M.I.A. over the last few weeks due to a finger injury. Well, Fallon made his triumphant return yesterday, albeit with an intense bandage on his left hand. To his credit, he took a few minutes to explain his injury to the audience. Fair warning: it's a pretty gross story.
For those of you that want the short end of the story: Fallon tripped in his kitchen and his wedding ring caught on a table essentially pulling his finger out of his hand. Typically, injuries such as these require amputations, but Fallon's doctors were able to save it in surgery. He was in the ICU for 10 days and just returned to "The Tonight Show" last night.
A big thanks to those doctors who were able to get one of the best late night host's back to the desk!
