Halle Berry faced off against ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry in a secret court trial in Los Angeles on Tuesday over child support payments, the New York Daily News reported. The actress and the Canadian model sat on opposite sides of the court room and did not say a single word directly to each other.
Berry, 48, wanted the judge to reduce her monthly child support she was paying Aubry for their 7-year-old daughter, Nahla, from $16,000 to $3,000, TMZ reported. The Oscar-winning star previously indicated she was happy to pay for Gabriel to properly look after Nahla, but she believed he was using the money to avoid work and needed to get a job.
A document submitted to the court by the actress and her lawyer last November allegedly stated that there is "no case, no law, and no logic that says a healthy, active man gets to simply live off child support that the wealthier mother earns,"
Berry also accused Aubry of spending most of the child support money on his own needs, which included $700 on fitness, just short of $1,000 on clothing and nearly $2,000 on car expenses, the Daily Mail reported. The 38-year-old model was fighting the request because he claimed he struggled to find work since Halle's current husband, Olivier Martinez, beat him up in 2012.
