Why try and make kids eat fruits and vegetables when they can eat pizza and fish sticks? "Parks and Recreation" actor Nick Offerman stars in a new "Funny or Die" video sponsored by the American Heart Association that parodies the classic sun-drenched food commercials, according to Mashable.
In the sketch, Offerman wanders around his junk food farm showing off his naturally grown pizza, taquitos, sloppy joe's and fish sticks. "Welcome to the Pizza Farm, where we're hard at work growing the ripe, juicy pizzas your kids love," says Offerman. "What could be healthier than this? Acres of pizza, kissed by the sun, stretching as far as the eye can see."
The spoof is supposed to promote healthier school lunches and call attention to the fact that pizza, no matter what is on top of it, is not a vegetable. The TV star's claims mock the special interest groups pushing to repeal school lunch regulations promoted by First Lady Michelle Obama that require serving more fruits and vegetables and whole-grain-rich products as Congress considers whether to reauthorize them when they expire in September, according to Time.
