Justin Martin, who starred in Disney's "High School Musical 3," was involved in an alleged police shootout on the streets of Boston on Tuesday night. Boston police arrested the 21-year-old actor along with another juvenile male.
Officers recovered two loaded firearms following a shots fired incident in the Dorchester neighborhood. The police report claims the officers first saw Martin running down the street with a gun in his hand and when they gave chase, he turned around and pointed the gun at them.
At the same time, a second suspected started firing upon the police and they fired back at Martin, but didn't hit him. When they took the young actor down, they recovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun. As they took him into custody, a juvenile suspect approached the police holding a .25 caliber handgun, but officers were able to detain him without any shots fired.
Boston PD has not been able to determine whether the juvenile suspect was the person who fired upon the officers.
Martin was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm and two counts of assault by means of a dangerous weapon (in this case, a gun).
He later pled not guilty to all counts and bail was set at $35,000, according to TMZ. Martin's mother told the outlet she would try to post his bail after his court appearance on Wednesday morning.
In addition to starring opposite Zac Efron in the final "High School Musical" movie, Martin's other credits include "Flight," "The Express" and "The Soloist" as well as guest star appearances on TV shows "Blue Bloods" and "Cold Case."
