Google Drops Prices Of Nexus 4 By $100

Google has dropped the price of both the 8 GB and the 16 GB versions of the Nexus 4 smartphone by $100.

Google offers a chance to grab the 4.7-inch Nexus 4 smartphone at a reduced price. The price of both the 8 GB and 16 GB variants of LG's smartphone has been slashed by $100 and the smartphone is now available for $199 and $249 respectively, in Google's Play Store. The price drop follows speculations on the next-generation Nexus, which is likely to be placed at Nexus 4 original pricing, $299.

The Nexus 4 smartphone by LG was launched late last year. It boasts a 4.7-inch Gorilla Glass display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels 320 ppi. The device runs on a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor, with 2 GB RAM and a non-replaceable 2100 mAh battery. Nexus 4 also sports an 8 megapixel rear facing camera and a 1.3 megapixel camera in the front. It comes in two variants, 8GB and 16GB, originally priced at $299 and $349 respectively.

Timely updates for all Nexus devices are a catchy feature, and this will eventually get updated from Android 4.2 to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as well.

Earlier rumors have suggested that Google is adding two new Nexus devices to its flagship but the details remain sketchy. A report from Android Community speculates that the price drop is a precursor of news about Google's next gen Nexus. The rumored Nexus 5 will reportedly sport a magnificent 5-inch 1080p display with either a Snapdragon 800 or a Snapdragon 600 processor and a price to match the original Nexus 4.

Another report from Geek.com says that Google is working on its second Nexus 10 tablet and the top contender for making the device is Asus, the maker of Google's newest Nexus 7 that was launched late last month. The report says that the Nexus 10 will sport a Snapdragon chipset and a 2560x1600 pixel display and apps optimized for larger screens.

Although a price drop may come as great news for some interested buyers, it may have also upset all those who purchased a Nexus 4 recently. Google has some good news. The company is offering a refund of the difference in amount if you have purchased a Nexus 4 15 days before the price reduction. The request must be placed within 15 days from the date of price drop.
