A 16-year-old boy was shot inside an Apopka, Fla., home Sunday while visiting his girlfriend. The teen was grazed in the head in the shooting, which occurred Sunday afternoon, according to Click Orlando.
Orange County deputies said the teen went to the girlfriend's house and was greeted by her stepfather, 50-year-old Alvin Knight, and his friend, who were both holding shotguns.
"The 16-year-old boy comes over to the house to visit the girlfriend, who lives there," said Orange County sheriff's Lt. Paul Hopkinsd. "The [step]father and the boyfriend don't get along very well, so the [step]father of the girlfriend answers the door with a shotgun in his hand."
Despite being unwelcome at the home by Knight, the victim taunted him saying he wasn't afraid of being shot and grabbed the barrel of the gun and placed it on his head, reported the Orange County Sheriff's Office, according to Inquisitr.
The gun then went off and the teen suffered a grazing wound to his head. He was rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threating injuries, according to WESH.
Knight, who has a criminal record dating back more than 15 years, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm. He could also face witness-tampering charges on suspicion of trying to cover up the shooting, deputies said, according to WESH.
"During our investigation, we felt like they were trying to make us feel [like] this was an accident, and we were able to get some testimony that they were trying to tamper with some of the witnesses and their testimony," said Lt. Hopkins.
Knight was taken to jail and was later released after posting bond.
