Last September, Nicole Kidman's father, Anthony, died suddenly at the age of 75. Months after her devastating loss, Kidman is still having trouble talking about her late father. The 48-year-old actress is the August cover girl of Vogue magazine and opened up about a number of different subjects, including her father.
The loss is still very fresh for Kidman, who starts to tear up immediately when asked about her dad. "You've caught me at a time when I'm still recovering and in grief," the actress said. "There are times you go, 'Gosh, I wish I could just go and hide in a hole and never come out.' And then you go, 'That was yesterday.' I have a four-year-old and a six-year-old, and just hearing their laugh . . . it's life in its most powerful form."
Dr. Anthony Kidman was a clinical psychologist at the Royal North Shore Hospital and a director of health psychology at the University of Technology, Sydney, reported People. Kidman was visiting Nicole's sister in Singapore when he fell in an accident and died.
Last October the actress opened up to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres about the loss of her father. "I've realized we don't talk about it enough in terms of our society," Kidman said. "Because at some point in our lives ... everybody loses their parents and it's awful." Kidman and husband Keith Urban had been together for nine years and he really helped during the rough time. "He has been so good to me for nine years, but for the last month, which has been a really tough time for me ... he's been amazing," she told Ellen.
