Apparent Suicidal Detonation In Eastern Chinese Park Kills Two, Injures 24

Echoing a recent deadly blast on the border town in Turkey that was covered in this linked HNGN article, a park in China's Shandong Province played witness to an attack that left two dead and 24 injured, with three currently in critical condition.

The deadly blast occurred at 10:34 p.m. local time, in the Huxi Park, located in Shanxian County, Heze City, reports Xinhua News Agency.

The suspect, a 33-year-old unemployed villager named Xie Xingtang, was one of the fatalities in the blast. Currently, the reasons behind the violent attack are unknown, according to Reuters.

Reports state, however, that the attacker was suffering from liver cirrhosis, a liver ailment, and that he had been admitted to the local hospital numerous times. Despite numerous attempts, treatments have been unsuccessful.

The attack shows signs of an apparent suicide. The materials he used to spark the blast, as well other paraphernalia used in the blast, are unknown at this point, as reported by the Associated Press, according to Yahoo! News.

The blast happened just outside the park's entrance in a small square. The place is usually used by senior citizens to watch soap operas together and participate in other community-related activities.

Previous cases of suicide bombings have happened in the past in China, where people with grievances towards others use homemade explosives to attack their enemies. In China, bombs are the ideal weapon of choice for those who are attempting revenge, since bombs can be made at home and firearms are quite difficult to obtain.
