A man from Florida who has been known to terrorize people in his neighborhood over the years, according to neighbors, is now being indicted on a first-degree murder charge for killing a man over an argument about dog poop.
A grand jury indicted Omar Rodriguez on Wednesday for killing Jose Rey when Rey allowed his dog to poop on Rodriguez's son's lawn. Rey died of his injuries late last month, according to the Associated Press through WCTV.
Rodriguez, 66, is claiming self-defense. "When all the facts are made known, this is a case about self-defense and the justifiable use of force," Alan Ross, his defense attorney, said on Wednesday.
Rodriguez was originally charged with attempted murder while Rey struggled to fight for his life at the Kendall Regional Medical Center last month, according to the Miami Herald.
The incident took place last month when Rey was walking his dog during Father's Day weekend. Rey and Rodriguez were having an argument whether or not the former's dog pooped in the latter's son's backyard and Rodriguez ended up shooting Rey, according to NBC Miami.
