Serena Williams meets Galina Voskoboeva on Wednesday in the second round of the 2013 US Open. The match is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. Watch the live stream HERE or HERE.
Williams continued her dominant season on Monday with a crushing win over Francesca Schiavone, 6-0, 6-1. Despite Williams' lead, she wouldn't allow herself to grow complacent on the court.
"I just thought I have to stay focused and do what I can," Williams said of when Schiavone paused to hug a ball boy, via the New York Times blog. "I just wanted to stay really focused there.
"She's a great competitor. The scoring line had nothing to do with the match. I was able to win some key points, but I'll tell you it wasn't very easy out there."
After a surprising fourth-round loss at Wimbledon, Williams bounced back to win her seventh and eighth title of the season at Bastad and Toronto; she made it to the Cincinnati Masters final before falling to Victoria Azarenka.
As Williams continues the bid for her fifth US Open title, the reigning US Open champion doesn't feel the pressure of having to prove anything.
"That's the beauty of my career. I don't need to do anything at all," Williams said earlier in the week, via Yahoo! Sports. "Everything I do from this day forward is a bonus. Everything for me is just extra."
Williams faces World No. 77 Voskoboeva, who is 22-15 and without any WTA singles titles. The 28-year-old Russian made it to the second round in the French Open this year before losing. Her career-best at a Slam was in 2012 at the Australian Open, where she made it to the third round.
The pair's only meeting, in 2012 at Rome, was won by Williams in two sets.
