MTV, with the help of Brooke Reece and Travis Miller, announced the nominees for its 2015 Video Music Awards earlier today on the Beats 1 "Charts" show on Apple Music, and it's bound to be a fun-filled, extremely entertaining night as always!
The VMAs are an award show honoring the hottest names in music and their music videos and have been an annual event since 1984. MTV has not yet announced who will be performing, but many A-list celebrities like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj are up for multiple awards. There are even a few newcomers like Fetty Wap, George Ezra and Vance Joy up for awards.
This year's show will be hosted by none other than Miley Cyrus. Last night, the "We Can't Stop" singer announced that she'd be hosting on Instagram with a photo collage of herself in a bright green alien suit. The left side of the photo was the alien holding up a sign that said, "MTV won't let me perform," and the left side revealed that she was the one wearing the costume, so she stuck out her tongue in typical Miley fashion and held up another sign that said, "So I'm hosting this year's VMA's." After her famous twerk-filled performance in a nude outfit with Robin Thicke at the 2013 show, it kind of makes sense that she's not allowed to perform anymore, but we're sure her hosting abilities will be just as entertaining!
Tune in to MTV on Aug. 30 at 9 p.m. EDT to see the show, which will air live from L.A.'s Microsoft Theater.
