Passerby TiAnna Greene witnessed a special act of kindness from a police woman who shared a meal with homeless man and took photos which she then posted on Facebook. The photo has gone viral, receiving a positive feedback people across the Internet, Little Things reported.
OPD Officer Sergeant Erica Hay of the Ocala Police Department in Florida was getting her breakfast from a Dunkin' Donuts when she noticed a homeless man sitting by himself. She decided to buy him breakfas and eat with him while sitting on the street curb.
TiAnna happened to be across the street and she decided to document the kind gesture. Later, she posted the photos of the encounter on Facebook with a caption that read: "Although I was the only person blessed to witness less than two minutes of her kindness that definitely came from the heart, it truly made my morning."
The cop's incredible act of kindness has been spreading online, and people have started sending her their messages of gratitude. Many have noted that the officer could have simply bought the man the food and then left. Instead, she shared breakfast with him for a more intimate and personal moment, which surely made the man feel good.
The police department also noticed TiAnna's Facebook post and shared it on their Instagram, but humble Sgt. Hay never expected any media attention. Sgt. Hay was hesitant to speak with the media about it because, for her, it was simply a duty as an officer on behalf of a fellow human being, WPXI-TV reported.
"He turned out to be a very nice man who just has a sad story. He is a person," Sgt. Hay said, who also had a good time conversing with the man.
Sgt. Hay is the leader of the K-9 unit in her department, which was recognized and thanked by Chief Isaacs of the Fruitland Park Police Department.
