Sean Malone is currently in critical condition after nearly drowning off the coast of Massachusetts on July 20, Wonderwall reported.
The "Gone Baby Gone" actor was off swimming on a beach in South Boston when he inadvertently swam far out into the water off the coastline and began to struggle. Chris Flaherty, an off-duty firefighter, was nearby and spotted the actor in distress, responding by grabbing a paddle board to go and try to rescue him.
Malone had already gone underwater when Flaherty arrived. Two teenagers also saw Malone in distress and assisted Flaherty in the search. Two other firefighters who were working out with Flaherty met the three while they were on their way to shore and gave CPR and chest comprehensions, according to the Boston Globe.
Sean Malone is the brother of Deputy Fire Chief Scott Malone, Wonderwall reported. He has starred in a few films besides "Gone Baby Gone," such as "The Fighter," which was released in 2010.
