After winning both Twenty-20 matches, Pakistan suffered a surprise loss on Tuesday when Zimbabwe won the first ODI of the series by seven wickets. The loss hasn't deflated the Pakistani squad, which hopes to draw even on Thursday.
"We need to just come back strongly and play our A game, our best game then you can really win these games," Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq told reporters, via CricBuzz.com.
Pakistan's middle order failed, and the squad's bowling performance left much to be desired. Mohammad Hafeez was the only player who looked consistent on Tuesday after the team dominated Zimbabwe in the T20s.
Zimbabwe kept Pakistan to just 244. The efforts of Hamilton Masakadza earned him the Man of the Match award, according to CricBuzz. He and Vusi Sibanda posted a 107-run opening stand, helping their squad to a sizeable lead. The win on Tuesday marked a significant turnaround for the squad that was swept just last week in the T20s.
"We know how good Pakistan are and we know the quality of their players, we know they are going to come back harder on us," Malcolm Waller told reporters.
