Redmond O'Neal, the son of actors Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett, is facing more jail time. A Los Angeles judge sentenced O'Neal to three years in state prison for violating terms of his probation, Radar Online reported.
Judge Keith L. Schwartz issued an arrest for Redmond in April and revoked his probation after an officer alerted the courts of his violation, according to People. On April 3, the Culver City Police Department arrested Redmond and he was held at the Los Angeles County Twin Towers Correctional Facility on no bail.
His charge stems from a convicted felony count of heroin drug possession. He was first arrested and jailed for possession of heroin in 2008 and has been charged with violating parole four times since then, the Daily Mail reported. His last violation was in 2014 when he was found with heroin and a weapon during a routine traffic stop.
Ryan O'Neal told People in 2011 that his son "never recovered from the loss of his mother," Fawcett. She died in 2009 after losing her battle with cancer.
Schwartz gave Redmond credit for 302 days he's served so far in jail. Due to overcrowding, Redmond is expected to complete about 60 percent of the three-year sentence and he could be released in one year.
Tatum O'Neal, Redmond's half-sister, told People in May that she's worried about his safety.
"I love him," she told People, "but I have never seen a more scary side of addiction."
